Useful observations

Today I had 5 hours of English lessons with 8 A (2h) and 7 A (3 h). There is a boy in one of my classes, I had noticed him at the second-third lesson while observing my adviser conducting the lessons, so this boy is passive on the lessons , shy, he is always drawing/writing/ smth or/ and even sometimes he was just listening to music. Once I asked him to show me his notebook. His pictures/paintings were amazing, he also wrote there his thoughts.

The following week I noticed him playing the dombyra, he definitely is gifted one, but shy or introverted or just do not like team work.

So today we were going to play Kahoot to consolidate knowledge of new grammar we learned, and when almost everyone connected to the game, he was kind of sleepy and not interested in what everybody was doing, he told me that he didn’t want to play, I offered him my phone (turned out that the real reason was that he didn’t have phone to play) and another boy(very active one, who always asks my phone to play kahoot) joined him

The results: the team of very shy boy won the game, although there were Olympiad and other students who knew English much better.

P.S.I saw the smile on his face, what happens rarely. it was a little win for me

Paper work

Today I had 2 classes of English: 2hours with 8 A and 3 hours with 7 A. On my first lesson with 8 graders we started new unit and completed several tasks, played games and had some interesting activities. 7 graders had an exam — KET, adviser asked me to help him print and then check all these papers, it took me less than hour. I find this work to be useful for me, now I know that I definitely do not like that kind of paper work, hope in near future all students will pass exams online/will use gadgets

At the moment I’m preparing for tomorrow lesson, which I will conduct for 8th graders

Entertainment and media

For today’s lesson I have prepared vocabulary worksheets about the entertainment, for warming up I asked students to find or think about any news that happened to them or worldwide ones. To make activity more entertaining I turned on an intro breaking news video. Then we learned new grammar topic- Relative clause, which I tried to teach inductively with the help of prepared activity and discussing some examples.

Useful resources

I would like to share some useful resources that I used when preparing for today’s lesson

I used the activities from the blog of Cristina Cabal, also the site http://www.superteachertools.us, British council video and audio tasks, www:kahoot.com, http://www.prezi.com, some educational Chanels on youtube of course( for instance, American English)

They were very helpful to me as additional materials for the lessons

Teatime for teachers, my lessons

units and course book tasks are not always interesting for both teacher and students, so I have found additional tasks in the one teachers blog. We watched a video and completed some tasks on new grammar topic. At the afternoon I had a class with 7 A.

We have a break which starts at 9:55 to 10:25 on which teachers gather and have brunch and students stay at classrooms and read books

So for this time I decided to cook something and bring it to the tea time, I personally like and support this idea, I baked cinnamon rolls and made some chocolate doughnuts. I was really glad and happy to hear that teachers liked them.

Letters from the future and a biscuit

Today was a day I got my first present from students. It was a biscuit it was so cute^^!

I prepared several tasks for the lesson, and the most interesting for me and for students was «a letter from the future»

Students were supposed to write a letter from their future versions to themselves at the moment, it was very funny to listen them. They are very ambitious and have brilliant goals and dreams!
